I’m a nightmare when it comes to paper. If you want me to lose something, go ahead and write it down for me. And if you really want to mess me up when I’m not feeling well, send me on my way after a doctor’s appointment with a stack of papers containing instructions and results. I’ll lose it before I get home.
If you want me to actually have access to something, you have to put it online. That’s why I’m so glad that GoHealth Urgent Care Centers have an online portal where patients can manage their Northwell Health experience.
After setting up a secure login and giving the necessary permissions, patients can use the portal to:
-See a summary of their visit
-Access lab and imaging results
-See follow-up instructions for their visit
-See the medications prescribed at their visit
-Access educational materials
Checking in online before your visit also reduces the amount of paperwork that you have to deal with once you get there. Yay for less paperwork!
But what about cost? What are you paying for all of this convenience?
If you have insurance, there’s a very good chance that you’ll only be paying a co-pay. The NYC locations, for example, are in-network with seventeen different insurance plans, including mine.
But what if you don’t have insurance, or your plan isn’t included? The costs for different services are very reasonable. You’ll be provided with a cost estimate before your treatment, and you’ll receive a discount if you can pay your bill in full at the time of your visit.
